Positive Relationships for Children’s Care, Learning and Development

Candidates will be able to:
Develop positive relationships with children
Develop communication with children
Support children in developing relationships
Support children in communicating with adults

Positive Environments for Children’s Care, Learning and Development

Candidates will:
Know how to establish and maintain healthy, safe and secure environments for children.
Know how to supervise children
Understand how babies and children develop

Reflecting on Practice

Candidates will complete a work experience practice where they will develop their knowledge and skills of childcare and how to respond to children's needs creating a stimulating safe environment.

Work based learning

A LEVEL (Year 14)

Promoting Children’s Development

Candidates will learn the expected patterns of development from 0-16 years and how to promote development across age ranges.  Students will also learn how to conduct a longitudinal child study.

Portfolio Assessment

Safeguarding Children

Students will understand the potential indicators of potential child abuse and the legal requirements for dealing with disclosure.  They will also understand strategies for supporting children, their families and adults.
