Rationale Business related subjects are listed in the Environment and Society Area of Study within the statutory framework of the Northern Ireland Curriculum. They are a popular choice at Key Stage 4 and sit within a broad and balanced school curriculum with an adequate time allocation to meet the course specifications and examination syllabuses.
They are concerned with
- The introduction of candidates to various aspects of the world of business, encouraging them to consider the impact of the business environment, contributing to their understanding and awareness of the spiritual, moral, ethical, social, cultural and environmental issues involved in the way businesses are managed, European developments, workplace organisation, Human Resources management and effective communication in the running of a business.
- Provision of useful practical skills in a wide range of computer applications in business contexts.
- Building a foundation of knowledge, understanding and skills which could form the basis for further study and assist in future employment.
