The Big Summer Read 2017

A big thank you to Ms Lillian Russell, Manager of Newry City Library for taking time out of a busy schedule and for her enthusiastic talk to the Year 8 and 9 pupils detailing this year’s Big Summer Read organised through NI Libraries. It was very much appreciated. The Summer Read will run from 1st July until 31st August. All young people, 0-15 years, are invited to participate. Students can challenge themselves to read an agreed number of books for the duration of the summer.  Newry City Library will have two dedicated Big Summer Read events, one to be organised in July and the other in August.  Dates will be advertised in the Library, on the Newry Library Facebook page and throughout the city via posters and flyers.
Each student also received a Summer Reading Agreement from the School Librarian whereby they can pledge to read for a number of minutes each day during the summer accompanied with a reading log which will enable them to keep track of the books they have read. All participants will receive a certificate on completion of their challenge.
Good luck girls in your challenge and enjoy your summer reads!
