UNICEF’s Rights Respecting Schools Award Level 2

Students from St Mary’s High School warmly welcomed Mr Paul Clark from UTV to present them with the recently re-accredited Right’s Respecting School’s Award at Level 2.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award is granted to schools that show commitment to promoting and realising children’s rights and encouraging adults, children and young people to respect the rights of others in school.
The Level 2 Award is the highest accolade given by UNICEF UK and shows a deep and thorough commitment to children’s rights at all levels of school life.
Currently there are over 300 schools across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales that have received the Level 2 Award. When St Mary’s High School students were re-accredited at Level 2, they were thrilled to hear that they are only the second High School in the UK to reach this stage.
Mr Paul Clark congratulated the students at Assembly as well as speaking to the many Student Voice Groups within school and commended them on their sterling work in raising awareness of the rights of young people at Local, National and Global Level.
