Health and Wellbeing Day 2022

Pupils took a well deserved break from their regular timetable to enjoy a range of activities designed to support their physical and mental health.

Each year group had an opportunity to participate in a Clubbercise workout led by Elaine Cunningham from EMC Fitness. This activity was a fun, full body workout that incorporated dance and combat moves to classic club anthems. The pupils enjoyed getting creative with their glow in the dark equipment and uv face paints. Many thanks to Mr Morgan and the Technology Department for ensuring our pupils were able to light up the room with their exercise glow sticks!

Pupils then participated in games and team building activities led by Nike Athletes from the Banbridge Store. Senior pupils also had an opportunity to participate in yoga and meditation as a way to relax and unwind.

After our physical activity was complete, pupils explored some healthy food options in Home Economics led by the Student Nutritional Action Group (SNAG), Miss Digney, Mrs McCaffery and Mrs Forte.

The SNAG team organised some healthy treats for staff and pupils. Everyone enjoyed sampling smoothies, fruit kebabs, vegetables and hummus and guessing the identity of some hidden fruits and vegetables. Many thanks to Patrick Philips from Phillips Fruit and Veg who contributed to supplying the fruit and vegetables for the day.

After filling up on fruit and vegetables pupils visited the Art Department where they had an opportunity to contribute to a whole school art installation through experimenting with textures and colours. Many thanks to Mrs Ward, Mrs Finnegan and Miss Magee for supporting our pupils creative needs.

Special mention to the SNAG team, our Sports Captain, Aoife Murtagh, and our senior pupils who played a pivotal role in ensuring the day ran smoothly. The pupils worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the day was successful and enjoyed by all.

Well done to all our school community for joining in with the fun and a special thanks to Miss Malone for organising the day.
