We are so proud of each and every Student who took part in Newry Feis this year. Everyone worked so hard on their poems and were fantastic ambassadors of St Mary’s High School.
A special mention to Year 8 Pupils Julita Karpinska and Fianna Murphy who were awarded 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the Over 11 and Under 12 competition. Another Year 8 Pupil, Darcy McKevitt was awarded 1st place in the Over 12 and Under 13 competition. Charlotte Young was placed 1st and Brooke Mulholland 2nd for their performance of ‘Stopping by Woods on A Snowy Evening’ by Robert Frost and Emily Smyth along with Dearbhla Doran were highly commended in the Over 15 competition.
For good conversation, 1st place was awarded to Ella Irwin, Sinead Coleman and Wiktoria Pacholczyk with Amy Cromie, Caoimhe Jennings and Amy Devlin placed 2nd.
Charlotte Young and Darcy McKevitt returned on the final evening to compete, with Charlotte winning the overall award of The Felix O’Hagan Perpetual Challenge Cup. Darcy was presented with the adjudicator’s award of The Sean Canavan Perpetual Challenge Cup for the most promising solo performer.
