912 have been working with Ulster Wildlife on a new project “Sea Deep” which focuses on the conservation of endangered sharks, skates and rays found in our local seas. These animals play a crucial role in the healthy functioning of our marine environment but populations have declined dramatically in recent years. The Ulster Wildlife Project is working with local school groups to collect much needed information on the different species around our coast. This information will be used to strengthen marine protection and management measures in NI, with direct benefits for the conservation of these species. The students are pictured visiting the shoreline at Rostrevor to hunt for shark, skate and ray egg cases. A fun filled day for all.
