U20 Schools Ulster Semi-Final

Our U20 Gaelic Football Team faced Rosses Community School, Donegal in a nail biting match in Garvaghey.

This very young side put in an excellent performance from the first whistle. It was all level at half time and with the wind in the second half the girls pushed forward to take the lead. The girls took the lead right up until the final 2 minutes of the game when Rosses Community School began to fight back. Unfortunately, two free kicks saw Rosses edge in front and a disallowed goal for St Mary’s resulted in Rosses progressing to the Ulster Final.

The girls can be very proud of their achievements this year. Their dedication and commitment was second to none and with 29 of the 30 girls still eligible to be members of the panel next year the future certainly looks bright for St Mary’s.

Special mention must go to captain Nicola Downey (Yr14) who played her last game in the maroon jersey today. Well done girls, we are very proud of you!

We wish Rosses Community School the best of good luck in the final.
